The manipular legion is organized into four lines, starting at the front: the velites, the hastati, the principes, and the triarii. At the front of the legion organized into maniples, the velites engage the enemy at the start of the battle. Once the velites are out of ammunition, they withdraw behind the hastati, who engage in melee combat. After them come the principes, and then the triarii if necessary. Equites on the flanks can be used in a hammer-and-anvil attack, or to deter other cavalry. This particular legion does not host any foreign auxiliaries units.
