Hierarchical Enfeoffments

There are many ways to curry favour with the emperor, and many ways in which he may repay that service.

One such repayment emperors prefer is one of feoffment - the granting of land and titles to relatives, descendants and loyal friends of the ruling family.

These gifts are given with the proviso that, in wartime, the emperor can call on them, and know that they will answer.
