Amulet Carver Workshop

The amulets produced here are beautifully made, and certainly have a decorative aspect to them, but their main use is to protect the wearer from harm by warding off evil influences.

Each amulet has a square or circular hole in the centre to bind or hang it and both sides are carved with images around the hole.

These are usually a combination of Chinese characters issuing some warning to evil threats with images of gods from the Taoist pantheon, to imbue the words with authority.
