胡馬營地

騎兵是能擊潰上千名步兵的部隊，但就像寶劍一樣，在帶上戰場前必須先經過鍛鍊與測試。馬在受到突然的巨響、高溫或暴力驚嚇時，本能反應是陷入恐慌，轉身飛馳而去。

對於要長期服役的戰馬而言，這樣的天性必須透過訓練消除，其騎手也必須學會在混亂的戰局中控制馬匹。若要指望戰馬表現出與騎手同樣的忠誠與勇氣，牠們應該得到的尊敬就不比騎手少。
