Errors in law can be made, and mistakes must give way to justice. After being found guilty, an appeal can be lodged by the accused, or if facing the death penalty, the accused’s relatives. This appeal is referred up to higher authorities for consideration and judgement.

To prevent abuse of the system, if the accused is still found guilty after appealing, their punishment is increased; should the appeal have been lodged by relatives, they too could suffer punishment by the shame of tattooing or hard labour.
