Legal Institutions
When law is separated from the whims of a ruler, all benefit.By introducing a set of laws that were not entirely subject to the whims of the ruler, legal institutions provided a framework of rules that decided how wealth could and should be distributed. Some of the greatest advances made in this area were put forward by a jurist known simply as Gaius. He wrote many great works on the finer points of Roman law but he is best known for his work “The Institutions of Gaius”. It was broken into four sections that discussed how people, things, intestate succession and actions should be governed by law.
