Tomb of Giants

A proper gate to the Otherworld.

The ‘Tombs of Giants’ are so-named due to their dimensions, and are very typical of Sardinia's megalithic period. Usually they were structured in a semi-circular shape, believed to symbolise a bull's horns. Almost always there was an enormous granite stele in the middle of the semi-circle, with a small opening on the base. Nuragic tombs were usually communal in that they contained the graves of up to two hundred people. Another curious aspect, proving that the Nuragic people clearly had good knowledge of the celestial cycles, is that most of the tombs are oriented towards the constellation of Taurus, and precisely the brightest star, ‘Alpha Tauri’.
