Nubian Pyramids

Egypt was not the only pyramid-building culture in the ancient world. While the Egyptian pyramids may be the most famous in the world, the Meroe pyramids, in modern-day Sudan, are incredibly impressive ancient structures in their own right - resting places that truly befitted the divine kings and queens of Nubia. Meroe, the capital of the Kingdom of Kush, was ruled by the Nubian kings for around six hundred years. Up to 4,600 years old, the pyramids at Meroe were built in the 'Nubian-style', made unique by their steep slopes and small bases.
