"Our queen has bestowed upon us the greatest gift - water in abundance!"

Brief as her reign might have been, Zenobia left a lasting impression upon the ancient world and the people she governed, never failing to impart grace and benevolence upon her subjects. One of her great works was the irrigation system, that came to be known as 'Zenobia's Canal' or 'El Kanat'. Its goal was to divert fresh water from the River Orontes directly into the city. Unfortunately, Aurelian put an end to the Palmyrene Empire, so the project was most likely abandoned long before its completion, yet traces of its construction can still be found within the city's bounds today.
