Note: This is only a story, not a real army. The "real" number of soldiers in battles is 10 times huge-setting. Read also my other stories.
This reads on French and Venetian armies.
When Venetian navy was destroyed, the France begun to starve the city, blockading it. Some managed to escape trought boats and ships, but many were imprisoned or killed. Venice raised it's last troops, even some with improved arquebuses. The Sicily had been severely weakened, and it couldn't help the Venice. All artillery that could be operated was stationed to key places in the Venice. The France assembled it's troops to holks and gunholks, and begun the landing. There was also some other, purely for sea-battles decicated ships. Venetian artillery was low on ammos, and the french ships could land with almost no losses. The venetian cavalry, Knights Templar, was able to make losses to the french troops, but they were eventually won. Venetian milita attacked, it's pikes and spears killed many frenchmen, and drove them back, but they were decisively defeated after the French now assembled cavalry could flank them. Eventually, the fearsome Venetian heavy infantry attacked after winning the french in other section, but they were soon killed and routed. All remaining Venetians camped to the city centre and the doge's palace, and fought a last stand, surrounding the caroccio. Musketeers shot knights from the palace, but eventually the France won, and the Venice was conquered. Many tried and managed to escape, but many were also killed or imprisoned. Prisoners and many workers were ordered to rebuild the city, to demonstrate the French might. King Francis arrived to the city two months later, and was there for a month, planning the co-operated attack to the rest of the Italy with England...
