The armies of Grand Cathay are vast, and if there is one thing the Dragon Emperor does not want for, it is men and women to fill their ranks. Despite their discipline, professional soldiers like the Jade Warriors of the great cities do not flinch when a peasant formation breaks – for such is the purposes of such units, to slow the enemy until they can be dealt with by more skilled fighters. Cathayan infantry often use long spears in dense infantry formations, allowing them to impale charging enemies on a forest of blades.

  The unit will try to stay in formation when in melee.

  This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.

  This unit counts as a Yang unit for the purpose of Battle Harmony proximity

• Harmony: Yang
  This unit counts as a Yang unit and gains increased melee defence and leadership when near Yin units.
• Charge Defence Against All
  When standing and bracing against a charge this unit will negate the enemy's charge bonus.
• Anti-Large
  Anti-large units have an advantage against targets that are at least as large as a horse. This advantage can be a damage bonus against large targets or an attack that focuses on a very small area. However, some units are simply better against large targets because their attacks are slow and easy to dodge by skilled melee combatants.
• Expendable
  Witnessing friendly expendable units rout does not reduce other units' Leadership, unless they are themselves expendable.
