Forest Dragon

These wise, winged bastions of the forest will see it defended, as they have done for countless centuries.

Nothing dwells for long in Athel Loren without being changed, and the Forest Dragons are no exception. Like certain groups of Wood Elves, the Dragons have slowly become an extension of the forest's will to survive and prosper. Though still voracious predators, the Dragons hunt only when the forest has need of them, resting in a state of hibernation for the remainder of the time. Should there be an intrusion by creatures too mighty for Athel Loren's spirits, the forest will occasionally goad one or more Forest Dragons to wakefulness in order to counter the threat. More often, the Elves will themselves petition the aid of a Dragon to serve as a steed for a Glade Lord - a request that the beast cedes with reasonable grace, provided it wasn't disturbed from a particularly fascinating dream. Over time, a Glade Lord might form a strong bond with a particular Forest Dragon, the two becoming friends - more than mere allies at need.

Abilities

  • Soporific Breath
Some Dragons breathe noxious fumes that have a long-lasting effect on their target's coordination - if it survived the attack in the first place.
  • Wounds
Even the greatest foes can be laid low with terrible injuries, and the greater the damage done, the less able they will be to effectively continue the fray.

Attributes

  • Causes Fear
This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their leadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Causes Terror
This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Can Fly
    This unit can fly.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Noxious Breath
Some Dragons breathe noxious fumes that have a long-lasting effect on their target's coordination - if it survived the attack in the first place.
  • Forest Spirit
The spirits of Athel Loren are able to shrug off most mundane attacks, causing magical damage in turn before melting into the forest from whence they came.
  • Causes Terror
This unit can [[img:ui/battle ui/ability_icons/causes_terror.png]]cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and [[img:ui/battle ui/ability_icons/causes_fear.png]]fear themselves.
  • Armour-Piercing
The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
