Giant River Troll Hag

Glistening with putrid swamp gunk, Troll Hags sate their voracious appetites with anything and everything they can get their slimy hands on.

Giant River Troll Hags are repulsive and bitter creatures, far larger and more dangerous than their common Troll kin. Steeped in hateful, deathly magic absorbed over the ages into the stagnant mudholes where they lurk, they lay spiteful curses upon all who walk in nearby dry places beneath the hated sun. With a crudely-wrought net stuffed with all manner of dead things slung over its shoulder and a gnarled tree stump in the other hand, a River Troll Hag will readily use both devices to inflict mighty blows upon its prey before making it dinner. When the Winds blow especially strong, Hags have been known to answer the summons of Shamans who would bind them to their will, or Orcs who have lured them out of their lairs using live Goblins hung on the ends of long fishing lines as bait. Once their bellies are full, they happily accompany Greenskin hordes onto the field of battle where their fearsome nature, massive strength, and ability to cast myriad curses and hexes upon their foes make them terrible enemies indeed.

Abilities

  • Mither
    The Troll Hag bombards the target with a tirade of unintelligible Trollish invective, powerful and relentless enough to cow even the most stoic of hearts.
  • Swamp Breath
    Troll Hags eat anything that finds its way into their swamps, be it alive, dead, or horribly decomposed. Their putrid breath is certainly testament to that!
  • Overwhelming Odour
    "If you thought them Hags smelt bad from a distance, just wait until you get up close…"
  • Regeneration
    There are beings and creatures that can mend bone and knit flesh at an incredible rate. A mighty boon, but one stunted by fire.

Attributes

  • Causes Fear
    This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their leadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Encourage
    This unit provides a Lord's aura and an encouraging unit will receive the larger of the two bonuses.
  • Hide (forest)
    This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Slimy Shanks
    River Trolls gain benefits when fighting in their natural watery habitat – and the wretched smell of river detritus that surrounds them weakens nearby enemies.
  • Spellcaster
    This unit can cast spells.
  • Regeneration
    flaming attacks will cause more damage to units with Regeneration.
  • Aquatic
    Whereas some units struggle to fight and move in shallow water, aquatic units excel.
