Packmaster (Brood Horror)

Specially trained to deliver lashing pain, Packmasters excel at hurting their enemies while simultaneously goading their hulking monstrosities to do the same.

The mutated fighting beasts made by Clan Moulder are whipped forward into battle by Packmasters, specially-trained experts who goad the charges of their ferocious, half-mad creatures that are always at risk of turning against their handlers without warning. For this reason, Packmasters themselves are cagey and fierce warriors, or if they are not, they quickly end up as another meal for their merciless packs. The whip is a favoured weapon and beast driving tool of the Packmasters, who quickly learn to become adept at using them to direct feral packs, or, when engaged in combat, to snap the weapon at the enemy, attacking over the heads of Giant Rats or between hulking Rat Ogres. It is common practice for Clan Moulder to sell both beast packs and Packmaster handlers, allowing them to leave Hell Pit to serve under Warlord clans across the globe.

Abilities

  • Shock Collar
Even the most vicious and impetuous monstrosities can be ‘encouraged’ to do one’s bidding with a quick jolt of Warpstone-generated electricity.
  • Running with the Pack
Staying close to his mutated beasts allows the Packmaster to keep them in check and within reach of his rudimentary field surgery skills.
  • Scurry Away!
"He who runs away lives to fight another day!" - so the foul, craven adage goes.
  • Frenzy
Some warriors care not for their own personal safety and so work themselves into a whirlwind of destruction and mindless violence!
  • Regeneration
There are beings and creatures that can mend bone and knit flesh at an incredible rate. A mighty boon, but one stunted by fire.

Attributes

  • Causes Fear
This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their leadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Causes Terror
This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Encourage
This unit provides a Lord's aura and an encouraging unit will receive the larger of the two bonuses.
  • Hide (forest)
This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.
  • Moulder Monster
This is a unit created by Clan Moulder. Packmasters and Throt the Unclean can push it to its full combat potential and restore it in battle.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Very Fast
This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
  • Armour-Piercing
The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Poison Attacks
The poisonous attacks of this unit weaken the target's speed and damage.
