Ariel

The magical force of nature flows through the Queen of Athel Loren as if she were Isha herself.

Before the Elves embraced Athel Loren as their home, Ariel was foremost among the Elven magi living on the forest’s fringes. It was she who first spoke through the art of tree-singing, paving the way for the complex alliance with the powerful forest-spirits. In the wake of the devastating Winter of Woe, when the forest had barely survived attacks from both Dwarfs and Greenskins, Ariel acquired the aspects of Isha, the Goddess of Nature, through the strange magic of the Oak of Ages. Together with Orion, she presides over Athel Loren, weaving enchantments to mislead intruders or lure them to their doom, and like Orion, Ariel’s immortality is linked to the seasons – she hibernates each midwinter to emerge the following year.

Abilities

  • Greater Arcane Conduit
    A strong mind is needed to channel the Winds of Magic. Those that have such a gift become arcane conduits - funnelling the magical tempests to their cause.
  • Blessing of the Ancients
    The magical power permeating the forests is bestowed upon those who defend it.

Attributes

  • Causes Fear
    This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their leadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Causes Terror
    This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Encourage
    This unit provides a Lord's aura and an encouraging unit will receive the larger of the two bonuses.

  • Hide (forest)
    This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.
  • Strider
    This unit ignores speed and combat penalties caused by terrain and can move through trees.
