Coeddil the Cunning was one of the three Elders of the Treeman Ancients who survived the first coming of Chaos. For long centuries it was he who directed the forest’s wrath against its despoilers without the need of the Asrai’s assistance. Coeddil had never agreed with the decision to allow the Elves to make their home within Athel Loren, eventually betraying them in a bloodstained attack. For his treachery, the powerful Mage Queen Ariel imprisoned him deep in the Wildwood and encircled with magical Waystones. Now, with his newfound freedom, the future of the Asrai and their alliance with the great forest is shrouded in uncertainty...

  • Muster of Malevolents
    Unleashed upon a foe, these aggressive manifestations of the forest are utilised for their needle-like arrows that inflict painful wounds from afar.
  • Murder of Spites
    Hiding in their hosts' hollows are fiendish forms, ready to strike out at any who draw near.
  • Blessing of the Ancients
    The magical power permeating the forests is bestowed upon those who defend it.
  • Howl of the Forest
    Elven troops will fight for Athel Loren, for their very souls are tethered to its fate.
  • Frenzy
    Some warriors care not for their own personal safety and so work themselves into a whirlwind of destruction and mindless violence!

Attributes

  • Causes Fear
    This unit frightens all enemy units, reducing their leadership when nearby. It is also immune to fear. Fear penalties do not stack.
  • Causes Terror
    This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Expert Charge Defence
    When bracing, this unit negates the charge bonus of any attacker.
  • Encourage
    This unit provides a Lord's aura and an encouraging unit will receive the larger of the two bonuses.

  • Hide (forest)
    This unit can hide in forests until enemy units get too close.
  • Woodsman
    This unit can pass through trees.
  • Unbreakable
    This unit does not suffer any form of leadership loss and will never rout.

  • Forest Spirit
    The spirits of Athel Loren are able to shrug off most mundane attacks and gain accuracy benefits when fighting in forests.
  • Vanguard Deployment
    This unit can deploy in an expanded deployment area, allowing it to start the battle within striking distance of the enemy - or somewhere unexpected.
  • Armour-Piercing
    The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
