Heavy Mounted Archers

These archers excel at harassing enemy troops, but are unafraid of charging into the melee if needed.

Mounted archers provide a general with an invaluable advantage: the ability to rain arrows down upon an enemy whilst staying safely out of reach of counter-attacks. Their horses are trained not to buck or flee in the furore of combat, giving the archers unparalleled versatility.

Should the melee somehow reach them, however, these warriors are better prepared than other mounted archers, armed with plate mail to deflect blows, and dao swords with which to fight back.

Unit Abilities

  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

    Can fire while mounted and moving.
  • FIRE BACKWARDS
    Can fire in any direction.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: skirmishers
    Skirmishers serve to distract and soften up enemy troops, and are almost impossible to run down as they harass their targets.
  • Mobility
    Mounted archers use their impressive speed and manoeuvrability to stay out of reach of the enemy and encircle unprotected units.
