Ji Militia

Peasant militia armed with polearms; an expendable but versatile main force on the frontlines.

The thunderous pounding of hooves, the blackening of the air as dirt is flung from galloping legs, and the impending impact of a horse in full charge can be an almost apocalyptic vision of terror for a humble foot soldier.

These militia troops are therefore armed with ji polearms, which are ‘dagger-axes’ with an angled blade attached to the top and a spear added to the tip. These versatile weapons extend the user’s reach and enable the wielder to slash and pierce riders, or dismount them by hooking their neck and pulling.

Unit Abilities

  • Caltrops
    Simple nut husks, once trodden upon, cause extreme pain and slow movement.
  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

    Reflects the charge damage of any mounted attacker back onto them when braced.
  • HIDE IN FOREST
    Can hide in forests.
