Mounted Archers

Armoured cavalry archers who harass the enemy with arrows while using their mounts to remain out of reach.

These cavalry troops may not have the finest of weapons, but the ability to fire arrows from horseback while keeping out of reach from the enemy makes them incredibly useful on the battlefield. Their horses are trained not to panic amid the din and chaos of battle, but instinctively retreat from encroaching enemies.

Should the enemy manage to corner these troops, they wear partial iron armour and are armed with zhibeidao swords so that they can defend themselves until permitted to pull back.

Unit Abilities

  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

  • HIDE IN FOREST
    Can hide in forests.
  • FIRE WHILST MOVING
    Can fire while mounted and moving.
  • FIRE BACKWARDS
    Can fire in any direction.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: skirmishers
    Skirmishers serve to distract and soften up enemy troops, and are almost impossible to run down as they harass their targets.
  • Mobility
    Mounted archers use their impressive speed and manoeuvrability to stay out of reach of the enemy and encircle unprotected units.
  • Poor in melee
    This unit is poor when fighting hand-to-hand. Try to keep it away from enemy formations.
