Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (AOR_1_Caledonian_Levies) Pictone Lugoae (Caledonian Levies) The Caledonians are a fierce people on the edge of the world. Beyond Caledonia stretches a great, empty ocean, and Caledonia itself is home to a rather isolated people. They are seemingly relics of a former era of Celtic history, they do not have great deals of iron, and so do not produce many swords. They instead fight with more practical weapons, spears, javelins, and slings. Balroae (Bal-ro-ee) are a vast number of men, of many ages and varying levels of experience. Seemingly fearless, and wild, their bodies are tattooed in esoteric spiral designs, their hair is spiked and red, and they are remarkably fearsome. They are very hardy and brave; their lifestyle demands it. Alone, a disciplined army would destroy them, but if incorporated into a more tactics minded commander, they may prove more useful. |

They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (AOR_3_Gallic_Medium_Spearmen) Gaelaiche (Gallic Spearmen) The Gaelaiche carry cheap equipment: Celtic longspears, javelins, and a shield. Their longspears are fair quality, with broad, sharp heads that cause deep, terrible gashes, and can be used to bring down horses as well. These weapons are accompanied by javelins thrown into an enemy position to disorient and kill a few foes. The Gaelaiche are mostly composed of the youngest Celtic warriors, but there is no shame in an older, experienced warrior fighting with a spear as well; the spear is a respected weapon in Celtic society. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Gaizoz_Frije) Hattisku Framannoz (Chatti Medium Spearmen) These Chatti spearmen are better equipped but still relatively light infantry. They are also an affordable unit, best used to protect the flanks. Their equipment includes a framea for melee fighting and several javelins. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Herthaganautoz) Kwadoz Dugunthiz (Proven Kwadoz Spearmen) These proven spearmen from the Kwadoz tribe are renowned and well-trained, although poor and less-well equipped than those of other tribes. They use heavy spears, not metal-tipped, more to block the enemy, than to attack them. They rely upon their iron-tipped javelins. Their reputation comes from their open-battle abilities, using similar tactics to the Celts, rather than the guerrilla warfare common to most Germanic peoples. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_scandinavian_Spearmen) Suiones Druhtiz (Scandinavian Spearmen) From lands with a harsh climate in eastern Svealand, these people are accustomed to fighting every day for their own survival. In warfare it is up to each man to prove his own bravery and worth, so their uniquely savage charge into the enemy enables them to perform slightly better than their neighbours in that respect. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Thegnoz_Drugule) Kuningaz Beryanoz (King's Guard) These nobles are close bodyguards and companions of the king: a few high nobles and chieftains. They devote their life to war, and are very experienced, finely educated warriors, using tactics and equipment similar to Celtic nobles. They are the very few to be equipped with leather and metal armour, and an iron helmet as well. Like Celtic chieftains, their helmets are decorated to give immediate recognition and act as a rally flag for their own warriors. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Woithiz_Watha) Nakwadaz (Naked Spearmen) Common as first-line units, these naked spearmen are the Germanic replica of the Gaisates, except that they use more crude weapons, the framea being too expensive and heavy to be carried by a skirmisher. However, they are still heavy skirmishers, relying on their speed to outflank the enemy, before launching their missiles in the hope of causing disarray within the enemy ranks. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Worgozez) Hattisku Jugunthiz (Chatti Spearmen) These young Chatti warriors are in fact the most common auxiliary infantry the Suebi can raise. They use a framea and javelins, and are numerous, sturdy and affordable troops. |

Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de lanciers / (Ger_Xorjonoz_Dreugondijoz) Herusku Dugunthiz (Heruskoz Spearmen) These sturdy spearmen are the best troops the Heruskoz have to offer. They are experienced warriors, well-protected with a leather jacket, a wooden reinforced helmet, and a well-made wide shield. They wield a shortsword as a secondary weapon. The tree on their shield is a traditional symbol of great power. |
