Gallic Imperial Bodyguard

Gallic Rome's toughest warriors, modelled after the Praetorians of old.

The Gallic Roman Empire consisted of all the provinces of Transalpine Gaul, Germania, the Hispanic provinces, and Britannia, and its first Emperor was Marcus Cassianus Latinius Postumus. Likely a descendant of auxiliaries in Batavia, Postumus set out to make his own Empire in Rome's image. His Senate was formed of prominent citizens, military leaders, and Romanised chieftains, while Legionaries formed a new Praetorian Guard. Adopting the defence-in-depth method, Gallic Rome was known for its many forts across the Rhineland and having strong cavalry units, ready to respond to Germanic raids and invasions. Alliances with willing tribes along the borders also proved useful as a first line of defence. For instance, the Thuringi's support was valuable to Postumus and Legionaries were recruited from their young men, creating a new type of soldier, with Roman military traditions combined with barbaric aggression and strength.
