Shrine of Sardus

In honour of Sardus, in the hope of his continued favour.

‘Sardus’, known to the Nuragic peoples as ‘Sardus Pater’, or ‘Sardinian Father’, was the son of Melqart (identified as the equivalent of Hercules in the Phoenician world, including Carthage. According to myth, Sardus left Libya with an army and settled on Sardinia, gifting it his name and creating the Nuragic tribes, who worshipped him as a hero-god and one of their chief deities.
