Raider's Port

"We will make them fear the seas!"

The Celtic Otherworld was a paradise to which the Celts believed they travelled to after death. Many myths and legends describe it as an island, and the idea that the dead passed beyond the horizon appears in many tales. The Byzantine philosopher Procopius of Caesarea recorded the beliefs of the tribes of Gaul and stated that they believed the Otherworld to be west of Britannia - modern-day Great Britain. According to Procopius, the Gauls believed that when a person died their soul would travel to the coast. Once there, they would bang on the doors of fishermen’s homes and beg passage across the sea. The fishermen would then ferry the souls to their destination and return home, never revealing the exact location of the Otherworld.

(Celtic Axemen)

The Teceitos are an often overlooked component of a Celtic army. Many Celtic warriors are buried with axes - particularly in Britain and Eastern Europe - despite the fact that axes are neither as prestigious nor as admired as swords and spears. The axe is a fine weapon, able to do great damage even through armour. Using axes as well as javelins, the Teceitos are especially useful for breaking up heavy infantry. They are also a great asset to chariots, being able to follow them into breaches in the enemy's' line.
