Trade Hub (Copper)

Kleine Städte bringen ehrgeizige Männer hervor.

Wohin sich die Römer auch begaben, sie eroberten nicht nur, sie ließen sich auch nieder und errichteten Gemeinden. Aus Steinen und Ziegeln errichteten die Römer Kolonien, die lange erhalten bleiben sollten. Koloniestädte entwickelten sich aus kleinen Weilern und Dörfern, die schon bestanden. Sie wurden zu Zentren der regionalen Verwaltung und des regionalen Handels. Diese Provinzstädte, oder „civitates“, wurden im Schachbrettmuster gebaut und zum Schutz mit Steinmauern eingefasst. Kleinere „vici“ waren weniger formal und entstanden oft abseits von römischen Militärlagern, um die Soldaten mit den Annehmlichkeiten und Vergnügungen der Heimat zu versorgen.

Greek and Phoenician elements are also abundant in their culture, foreign motifs being common in their art. While not an elite contingent in the Ilergetan army, these troops are good quality. They are brave and relatively well-equipped, dependable line infantry.

With their raiding and contacts with the Greeks, they use more xiphos swords and Chalcidian helmets than their northeastern neighbours.

Like the Solduros of the Gauls, in the East the Scordisci have the Cordinau Orca (Kor-dee-now Urk-ah; Battle Boars), the guardians of their chief, and fearsome, strong warriors. The Scordisci are a rather extroverted Celtic people; they are so cosmopolitan that their enemies think them Thracians or Illyrians.

They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary.
