Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (bri_irish_noble_warriors) Ouxseloi Iwerakoi (Irish Nobles) The nobles of Hibernia are the best equipped of all Irish warriors, with elaborate armour as well as crested, plumed, and feathered helmets, highly recognisable of the battlefield when fighting on foot. |

Cavalry / Chariot / (bri_irish_chariots) Errotoi Iwerakoi (Irish Chariots) Well-suited for flat terrain, Celtic chariots are a much safer place for nobles than the front line. They charge with great speed from behind their own lines to strike into the confusion of the battle, from the rear and from the flanks. Their spears, javelins, and swords are then just as deadly as if they were used from the back of a charging horse. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (bri_irish_noble_cav) Markakoi Akrowiri (Irish Noble Horse) A warrior who asks to be clad in iron is either too stupid or slow to avoid the blows of his foes. Instead of shirts of mail or sleeves of iron, it is with simple cloaks bedecked by torcs of gold that these men ride down their foes. Even leather armour finds currency with only a few such men. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (Bri_Calawre) Calawre (Champions) All the Celtic cultures follow hero worshipping traditions, and the Britons are no different. Among the southern tribes especially, there are warriors of exceedingly great skill, who use Gallic equipment. The Calawre (Call-a-oo-re) are not typically considered to be recognized champions, but they are wealthy and skilled. They have good armour and high-quality Gallic swords. They are called champions more on account of their appearance than their abilities on the battlefield, where in reality they serve as an all-purpose heavy infantry. They are adept and professional warriors, but their cost - in terms of equipment and training - limits their numbers. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (bri_irish_elite_medium_inf) Wenoi Iwerakoi (Irish Elite Swordsmen) These swordsmen are older and very experienced, usually wearing a good quality helmet and leather armour under their tunics. They are elite swordsmen, using heavy javelins and longswords for devastating attacks, and are very useful as a flanking unit. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (bri_irish_painted_warriors) Wiri Gurmakoi (Irish Painted Warriors) Celtic painted warriors are chosen for their strength, men of above-average physique. Perfect line-breakers with their heavy swords, they can also be described as young "champions," who are either not wealthy enough to afford armour, or shun its use in order to be more agile, though some wear helmets. They are tattooed and usually half- or completely naked, their hair typically painted and coated with white cender to be more impressive. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (bri_irish_veteran_warriors) Karutses (Irish Veteran Warriors) These highly mobile warriors use spears as well as longswords. They wear no armour but perhaps a light leather jacket and a simple helmet, like the coolus. All is conceived for maximised mobility and speed on the battlefield. As usual, the main decisive shock is provided by a single, furious charge. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (Bri_Teceitos) Teceitos (Britannic Axemen) The Teceitos are an often overlooked component of a Celtic army. Many Celtic warriors are buried with axes - particularly in Britain and Eastern Europe - despite the fact that axes are neither as prestigious nor as admired as swords and spears. The Teceitos wear leather or padded vests and bronze or iron helmets to help protect themselves. They are light enough to move swiftly over the battlefield, allowing them to flank heavy infantry, and strike them from the flanks or rear. Using axes as well as javelins, the Teceitos are especially useful for breaking up heavy infantry. They are also a great asset to chariots, being able to follow them into breaches in the enemy's line. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (Bri_Kluddargos) Kluddargos (Sword Masters) Kluddargos (Klud-arr-gus) are British champions who use very specialized weapons. Their two-handed longswords have especially heavy blades and require years of practice to master. Able to afford such weapons, they can also afford high-quality armour, including very fine-quality chain shirts. Like other heroes and champions, they march to battle to inspire their fellow tribesmen, but their weapons also give them a tactical purpose: to annihilate enemy armour. Their swords are truly fierce and destructive: their great swings split helmets, smash shields, and collapse cuirasses into the body. The heads they collect will surely be from grotesquely mangled bodies, obliterated by the force of their blows, and the wielders of such weapons will often take satisfaction in finding their foes' bodies left in such a state. |

Missile Infantry / Missile Infantry / (Bri_Balroae) Balroae (Caledonian Slingers) The Caledonians are a fierce people on the edge of the world. Beyond Caledonia stretches a great, empty ocean, and Caledonia itself is home to a rather isolated people, seemingly relics of a former era of Celtic history. They do not have a great deal of iron, and so do not produce many swords. This being the case, they instead fight with spears, javelins, and slings. Balroae (Bal-ro-ee) are comprised of vast numbers of men, of varying ages and levels of experience. Seemingly fearless, and wild, their bodies are tattooed in esoteric spiral designs, their hair is spiked and red, and they are remarkably fearsome. They are very hardy and brave; their lifestyle demands it. Alone, a disciplined army would destroy them, but if incorporated into an army lead by a more tactically minded commander, they may prove more useful. |

Missile Infantry / Missile Infantry / (bri_irish_medium_skirmishers) Weidelos (Irish Raiders) These very common spearmen and skirmishers are generally more experienced and better equipped than most of the levied troops. Missile Infantry / Missile Infantry / (bri_irish_skirmishers) Gaisowiri (Irish Skirmishers) These are hardy men, born of the soil, and to the soil they are wed. In southern lands, the farmers are weak folk, but here in Iuernion, a land of magic, mirth and myth, they are as steadfast as the oak. How could a man not be steadfast in the face of those who would steal his herds and enslave his family? |

Missile Infantry / Missile Infantry / (bri_irish_slingers) Lawes Korakoi (Irish Slingers) Slingers are very common and form a large part of the Irish infantry. In fact, they are devastating on the battlefield, but easy prey in case of counterattack, especially by cavalry. They typically accompany the central formation and open the battle, weakening the enemy's front ranks before the main shock. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (bri_irish_light_spearmen) Towtyoi (Irish Levy Freemen) In Celtic society, the peasants are not slaves. They have civil rights, but also a harsh life in service to the warrior class. These levies are not a fighting force, but follow the army if the tribe's territory is threatened, and if the druids give them favourable omens. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Bri_Drwdae) Drwdae (Britannic Druids) The Drwdae (Droo-day) are not typically warriors; however, there are British warrior-druids. War is considered a fine profession, and even the best educated members of society sometimes engage in it. These particular Drwdae are warriors however, akin in many ways to the Carnutes of Gaul, insofar as they train a great deal and have the duty of protecting sacred places. They are extremely well motivated, disturbing to enemies, and inspiring to allies. Still, they are too few in number to fight alone and must be supported by others if they are to be effective on the battlefield. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (Bri_Argyn_Marca) Argyn Marca (Caledonian Noble Horsemen) The nobility of Caledonia are not so wealthy or well-equipped as their neighbors to the south, though this is not to say that they are less well-off than the Celts on the continent. However, the Argyn Marca (Arg-en Mar-kah) are a far cry from the lower ranking levies that make up most of a Caledonian army. Mounted on ponies, armoured in scale and helmets, and equipped with the best of local goods, they are the heaviest cavalry in Britain, and this gives them a notable advantage over the cavalry light Britons. Their charge is powerful, and their ponies are manoeuvrable. Even against superior cavalry, their ability in forests can be used to great advantage. Their charge is augmented by an effective hail of javelins. |

Cavalry / Missile Cavalry / (bri_irish_light_cav) Markakoi Skamno (Irish Light Cavalry) Irish horsemen are usually equipped with javelins or two gaiso spears, one for launching and another for charging, but also a longsword for close fight. Body armour is rare, but helmets are common. They are good, fast scouts, and perhaps also use so-called "Germanic" tactics, which involve light infantrymen and light cavalry attacking together. |
